Head of National Disaster Mitigation Agency Inspects Landslide in Natuna

The Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto, departed for Natuna, Riau Islands today, Tuesday, March 6, 2023.

JAKARTA - Suharyanto will directly observe the situation and conditions at the location and ensure that emergency handling is going well.

The Head of the BNPB departed from the TNI AU Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma airbase at 13.20 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Using a Hercules C-130 aircraft, he is scheduled to arrive at Lanud Sadjad Ranai, Natuna, in the afternoon.

The entourage includes Deputy Head of Emergency Management, Major General TNI Fajar Setyawan, Acting Head of Disaster Information and Communication Data Center (Pusdatinkom) Abdul Muhari, BNPB experts and special staff.

Upon arrival in Natuna, the Head of the BNPB will immediately lead a meeting on the emergency response to the landslide disaster together with all elements of the Natuna District Forkopimda.

BNPB also dispatched the BASARNAS team and disaster response volunteers in one manifest to support search, rescue, and evacuation efforts. 

Then, bringing some logistics and equipment, including 4 refugee tents, 100 family tents, 500 blankets, 500 mattresses, 15 units of 2 kVA electric generators, 1,500 food packages, 1,500 rendang packages, 200 velbeds, and 100 salt lamps. BNPB will also provide Ready-to-Use Funds (DSP) for emergency handling.

The landslide that occurred on Monday, March 6, 2023, has claimed 10 lives, with 42 people reported missing, 5 serious injuries, and 3 minor injuries.

 Then, 1,216 people were displaced, with 219 people at the PLBN, 215 people at the Puskesmas, 500 people at the Pelimpak and mosque, and 282 people at SMA 1 Serasan.
